Welcome to the World of Square Peg Apparel
We didn't originally set out to get into the apparel world - it just kind of happened. My husband and I were always coming up with cool, weird and unique ideas for trendy t-shirts, and with him being a graphic designer and an artist (and me just being weird) we stumbled upon the thought that we could come up with a couple ideas for t-shirts and add them to our graphic design business. After a time we realized that with our sense of humor and quirky outlook on the world we could REALLY come up with some awesome designs and might want to look into doing this apparel thing FOR REAL! We decided the best thing to do was to give the t-shirts and apparel a space of their own separate from the graphic design business. We chose the name Square Peg Apparel because we've both been always been like a square peg trying to fit into a round world. Never quite fitting in, but always trying. I've always been a little goofy, a little nerdy and a little weird and in turn was labeled a "weirdo". Then realization came with the move to Memphis as an adult. It hit me that I was perfectly fine if I didn't fit in. I didn't need to prove anything to anyone. I was great just being me. I AM weird - and that was GOOD! Yes, I was different from everybody else. To be able to look at the world differently and think outside the box while everyone else was stuck inside the box was how I was going to put my mark on the world. Everyone who met me, would definitely remember me.
The Square Peg Apparel logo is an ode to glasses wearers all around. Ah! The struggle of keeping them up on your face and also your dashed hopes of putting them on correctly the first time and them NOT getting stuck in your hair! We created Square Peg Apparel and specifically the WEIRDO collection to empower those who may have gone (or still are going) thru the same thing of being labeled - whether it was nerd, geek, weirdo or something else. We want them to welcome being weird, nerdy, odd or whatever. When we embrace the words that are meant to hurt us, we take the negativity and power out of the words and the wielder becomes powerless.
We aim to inspire our customers to be the best version of themselves and to be confident in their own skin - and of course, their outfits. Our vision is all about discovering and embracing your uniqueness in a forward-thinking and fashion-centered way, and all of our products from our graphic tees to our stylish dresses reflect these ideals.
